Flamed
A flamed finish is achieved by applying a high temperature flame to the stone surface which causes the crystals in the stone to fracture and pop resulting in a deeply textured and rough surface which is best for outdoor use especially where there is concern regarding slip resistance. This finish is used with granite as it is ideal for hiding surface imperfections and tone variations. A flamed surface finish is usually used for external installations on walls and floors.
